The CrossFit Games 2021 are on the horizon, and many of the participants are incredibly excited. There will be women's competitions in addition to the regular men's and women's competitions. We all know about the Reebok's equipment, Pegboard contest, cutting system, and women's event. However, we don't know much. Keep reading to find out! Competition for women

The 2021 Crossfit Games women's competition opened this morning with a swim event. Jonne Koski, Tia-Clair Toomey Orr, and TiaClair Toomey Orr were the winners in the first event. After maintaining her lead throughout competition, Koski was declared the overall winner. Tall finished second and Eramoo O’Connell third, respectively. It was the first Games for women, and the women's side hoped to complete the podium.

The women's competition is filled with top-level athletes. The field comprises nine athletes, one of whom is a teenager who won the competition in Australia last summer. Kara Saunders (Australian athlete) finished second in Australia. She was also eleventh worldwide for 2020. Andrea Nisler was also a rising star. In 2018, she competed in team division and came in third in the United States. She finished fifteenth in 2020. The Women's competition will feature these athletes as well as Sara Sigmundsdottir (an Icelandan competitor who won the first place medal at World Crossfit Games earlier last year).

Pegboard contest

The Pegboard contest at the Crossfit Games 2021 was a first. The Games added it to their summer Olympic program, along with double-unders (dumbbell overhead squats) and pegboard. Toomey-Orr set the record for most wins in a single Games event with 30. Sager won Event 11 for the men and took home his third Games victory. There were many ties throughout the contest, but ToomeyOrr was the dominant force that won the contest.

CrossFit Games are a competition where athletes focus on ten skills that improve their physical fitness: speed, agility, cardiovascular endurance, strength and flexibility. Competitors are tested on their grip strength and coordination in the Pegboard contest. Two wooden pegs are held between the hands of each competitor to gauge their grip strength. The competition was fierce, and the athletes were left feeling a sense of accomplishment after completing the Pegboard.


Cutting system

CrossFit Games will again use a cutting method for individual competition. The cuts are not as severe as those used in past Games but they are still very different. It consists of 15 events so 30 athletes could be reduced after the seventh and eighth events. The question is: How will CrossFit adjust points after cuts? The scoring system used in 2019 was virtually identical to the 2021 one, so it is probable that this will continue.

This year's CrossFit Games field includes 236 athletes. It is the largest ever. The six first events lead to major cuts. The field is then reduced to 75 athletes. The top 30 competitors then compete in the sprint couplet to determine which athlete is number ten. From there, the top 20 athletes compete in the remaining six events. Castro's system was strongly criticised by former Games participants, who felt that cuts were too substantial.

Reebok equipment

Reebok has announced new sports shoes, clothing, and other equipment for the CrossFit Games. The Nano X1 is the new shoe. They are made to meet multiple fitness needs. Reebok has billed this shoe as "the shoe of fitness," but it actually feels more like a traditional training shoe. DuPont's Kevlar fabric is used for the upper, which promotes breathability and durability. The firm midsole and RopePro tech enhance the responsiveness of the shoes.

Reebok's contract with CrossFit will end at the end of 2020, and the Games will be without a title sponsor. Reebok sponsored the Games for more a decade. Now, it is obvious that the company will lessen its involvement. Reebok won’t pay for the Games’ prize, but they will continue to make all athletic apparel, equipment, and gear worn by athletes. The company will no more refer to itself by the name "Reebok Fitness Games", as it does right now.

Step Tests

Step tests are a simple but effective way to measure cardiovascular fitness. They involve walking or jogging on a treadmill or track for a certain duration based on your age and weight.
